Today, I will compare and contrast two different styles of editing by using examples from the films Cabaret and Children of Men in order to properly demonstrate the art form and structure needed in film editing. One may wonder what exactly is editing? In film, editing is the process to which all footage, sounds, and additions come together. Over time in movie history, film editing has become an art form in the whole filmmaking process.
Strictly from an action standpoint, the film does a marvelous job at understanding the limits of each of the heroes’ abilities. The film sets up these super beings in particular situations to show us how their powers and skills work in action while fully realizing how effective and ineffective they can be.
